2010 Clackamas Flag Football
The only Flag Football approved by 

 Clackamas Youth Football and Clackamas High Football   

 

Flag football is a fun and exciting way to introduce kids to the game of football.   

  • FLAG FOOTBALL OPEN TO ANY CHILD (boy or girl) IN ANY SCHOOL DISTRICT.  SO, INVITE YOUR FRIENDS TO SIGN UP EVEN IF THEY DON’T LIVE IN CLACKAMAS, HAPPY VALLEY AREA.
  • GAMES HELD SATURDAY MORNINGS AT CLACKAMAS HIGH SCHOOL TURF FIELD AND DONE BY 11AM
  • PRACTICES WILL BE HELD IN CLACKAMAS AREA (WITHIN CLACK HIGH SCHOOL BOUNDARY), 2-DAYS A WEEK AND NO START TIME BEFORE 5PM
  •  PLAYERS NEED:  CLEATS THAT ARE TURF APPROPRIATE.  YOU DON’T HAVE TO BUY THESE BUT MOST KIDS PREFER THEM.  YOU CAN USE TENNIS SHOES ON THE TURF
  •  LEAGUE PROVIDES:  BALLS, FLAGS, JERSEY, T-SHIRT, MOUTH GUARDS, PRACTICE GEAR
  •  OPTIONAL ITEMS:  UNDERSHIRT (REMEMBER THAT FLAG GAMES ARE EARLY MORNING AND IT CAN GET PRETTY COLD/DEWEY)
  • 1/2 GRADES:  CAN REQUEST TO BE ON SAME TEAM AS FRIEND/COACH
  •  3rd - 6th GRADES:  NO REQUESTS FOR CERTAIN TEAMS AT THIS LEVEL.  TEAMS ARE BASED ON OVERALL SCORE AQUIRED FROM MANDATORY CAMP IN AUGUST.

JULY:

  • 12, 14, 16, 19, 21, 23 (M,W,F) CONDITIONING CAMP (optional):
    • Grades 3-6 ONLY: 11am-12pm- Offered by Coach Hayes, great for conditioning and preparedness for football, held at Clackamas High School. NO charge, part of the fee for registered players.  You may only attend if paid in full.  
  •  31st REGISTRATION CLOSES 

AUGUST: 

  • 2nd-6th FAMILY VACATION WEEK:  A lot of families plan summer vacations during this week so they will not miss any football.  This is the week to do that.
  • 8th COACHES CLINIC:  Meet in Clackamas high stands (time TBA).  You must have sent in coach's application and been contacted by our committee to attend.  This is mandatory for coaches.  
  • 9th OR 10th MANDATORY PLAYER SKILL ASSESSMENT CAMP:   PICK ONE NIGHT TO ATTEND (not both).  Meets @ Clackamas High School (time TBA).  Coaches and committee will assess the kids' skill level for placement on teams.  This camp is designed to introduce kids, parents and coaches to each other.  It's a great opportunity for families to talk, learn from each other and about each other. 
  • 13th - 15th MANDATORY PLAYER SKILL ASSESSMENT MAKE UP:   Exact date, location & time TBA.  This is a make up assessment for people who have pre-arranged with league.  Coaches and committee will assess the kids' skill level for placement on teams.  
  • 12th-14th TEAMS FORMED:  You will be contacted by your coach
  • 12th MOMS NIGHT (time TBA):  Come meet other moms from our CAV-NATION and learn a little about football and your child's position.  All this taught to you by the high school coaching staff.  We start at Clackamas High and then head over to McCool's for the social (THAT’S WHERE I’LL BE)
  • 16th PRACTICE: Starts this week
  • 21st TEAM MOM (or DAD) MTG:  12:00pm/location TBA.  This is a mandatory meeting for all designated team mom/dad of your team.  If team parent can't attend, a team representative must attend.  There will be child care for those who need it.
  • 28th PICTURE/JAMBOREE/SCRIMMAGE DAY: This is extrememly important if you want your child to be in his/her team picture.  Teams will also scrimmage other flag teams.  It's a fun-filled day that's incorporated with tackle so your kid can get a glimpse of what they have to look forward to. Pictures and scrimmage for flag will take place in the early a.m.  Youth tackle and high school tackle will follow.  There will be BBQ and activities throughout the day.

  • 11th FIRST GAME:  All Grades

OCTOBER: 

  • 30th LAST GAME:  All Grades

 

ALWAYS STRIVING TO IMPROVE:

FIRST AND FOREMOST, I WANT TO SAY THAT I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL YEAR.  AFTER REVIEWING LAST YEAR’S END OF SEASON SURVEYS, WE HAVE MADE SOME ADJUSTMENTS FOR THE CONCERNS THAT WERE EXPRESSED BY THE MAJORITY.  YOU’LL SEE SOME OF THESE IN THE FOLLOWING DURING THE SEASON.

Scholarships:

We offer a limited number of partial scholarships for youth participating in our fall flag football program.  We strive to assist all youth who want to play with the opportunity to do so.   

  • To qualify for a scholarship, the athlete needs to be on the free or reduced lunch program at school.  
  • There is a limited amount given and will be done on a first come, first served basis for qualified applicants.
  • The deadline for submitting for a scholarship is June 30, 2010.  
  • All requests will be reviewed and applicants will be notified in mid-July with respect to their application.  
  • Payment of any remaining balance will be due on or before July 31, 2010.
  • Please attach a copy of your free or reduced lunch program paperwork and mail it in with your registration form.
